The Smoke Daddy Celebrates 20 Years of BBQ

Slow-roasted ribs will be the star of the birthday celebration.

A Wicker Park barbecue joint is celebrating two decades of bringing Southern flavors to Chicago the way it knows best – by combining good food with good company. From May 15th to May 17th, The Smoke Daddy (1804 W. Division St.) will host a 20th birthday party complete with three days of specials, music and most importantly, plenty of smoked pork.

The event kicks off May 15th with “Throwback Thursday,” which takes customers back to 1994 by offering that year’s pricing on restaurant items (excluding the bar) all day long. May 16th will be dedicated to good music and “partying like it’s 1994,” and will feature Pat Gemkow and Blue Lorraine as the night’s entertainment. Birthday festivities will end on May 17th with the “Saturday Ho-Down and Pig Roast,” an all-day event held both indoors and outdoors with live music, raffles, contests and of course, barbecue.

For $15, visitors can get a plate of the pork they’ve watched roasting and smoking on a spit, with sides like slaw and mac ‘n cheese. Pig Punch (rum punch, Malibu and fruit juice) and draft beer will be available all throughout the celebration for $4 and will include a commemorative cup for you to keep.
