I go home to visit my mom often, and when I do, I always get to check out a few places that I love, as well as some new and interesting ones. The scene here is slowly evolving for the better.

Even if it's a quick, 24-hour trip, I always manage to squeeze in great pizza, and fabulous Japanese across the street.

Montreal (52 photos)
Bonjour! There is a lot to love in Montreal - from the best bagels in the world to smoked meat and foie gras - it's a little bit like traveling to Paris without the attitude. Also, Jean-Talon Market is among the best markets in North America. Bon Appetit!

New York City (26 photos)
It's always tough to spend a day or two in NYC, because my "must-visit" list is so long; here are some recent highlights, including donuts, smoked meat in Brooklyn and Eataly.

Here are a few great shots from Central at Caesar's, as well as Settebello, one of the better pizza joints I've found (although located in the 'burbs).

Sweden (125 photos)
One of my favorite places to eat, mainly due to the fact they relish pickled, smoked and preserved fish as much as I do. Bonus: best friggin' bread service I've ever had. Anywhere.

Toronto (26 photos)
This city reminds me so much of Chicago, except with a much larger Chinese population. Recent trips took me to Wvrst for sausages, Oyster Boy and Acadia, for low country cuisine.
