Homemade Pastrami All Over Chicago

Steingold

The thought of turkey sandwiches for the next few days doesn’t seem all that appealing, which is why I’m thankful for the city’s myriad (homemade) pastrami options. There are several places now brining, curing and smoking their own briskets, much like they do in New York or Montreal.

Next time you head back to Detroit might I recommend the Bread Basket chain of delis. My favorite is the 17 & 1/2. They have 10 locations across Metro Detroit. I am partial to their Royal Oak location.

Then when you get to downtown Cleveland I recommend Slyman’s Deli. Better get there by 11:30 AM if you want a seat.
