Chicago Hot Dog Fest Expands Offerings

In only its third year, the Chicago Hot Dog Fest is expanding to three days of eating action, while moving into a larger location in Lincoln Park, just north of the Chicago History Museum. The event will be held August 7 – 9, and includes not just hot dogs, but live music and a good number of historians, ready to answer all of your hot dog-related questions.

Vendors expected to attend include: Boricua Dog, Flashy Hotdogs, Chubby Wieners, Frannie’s Beef, Chicago Classic, Select Cut Steakhouse (?), Fatso’s Last Stand and Frank Meats Patty. In addition to stuffing your pie hole, you can also hear from some of the city’s leading hot dog experts from 12 – 4 p.m. each day. A Northwestern University professor tackles the subject of toppings in his talk, “Ketchup: The Condiment of Controversy,” while the History Museum’s Chief Historian addresses the significance of the Union Stockyards. It sounds like it will be a filling weekend; just relish it, and please, don’t ask for ketchup.
