Beer and Music on Tap This Weekend

Despite the fact those relentless summer weekend festivals are pretty much over, there’s still plenty of eating, drinking and live music going on this weekend in Chicago. WXRT is teaming up with Goose Island tomorrow for the 312 Urban Block Party. The event happens at Fulton and Wood (main stage is on the corner of Walnut and Wood) and costs just $10 to get in. I’m a fairly big fan of Cayucas, which goes on early, at 4:15 p.m., but there are several other bands, plus a half-dozen food trucks confirmed for the event, which runs from 4 – 10 p.m.

Show Schedule:

Main Stage-

Cayucas 4:15-5 p.m.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Thao & the Get Down Stay Down 7 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The Breeders 8:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Local stage-

5:00-5:45-Heavy Times

6:15-7:15-Secret Colours

7:45-8:30-Twin Peaks

Confirmed food trucks:

  • The Tamale Spaceship
  • Jerk 312
  • Haute Sausage
  • Bombay Wraps
  • DönerMen (German)
  • Taquero Fusion
  • The Eastman Egg Company

Word_Art_ChicagoThis weekend is also the inaugural Chicago Ale Fest, taking place at Buckingham Fountain. The event is an opportunity for beer connoisseurs and novices to explore an extensive selection of craft beers. With more than 200 beers from more than 100 American craft breweries, festival-goers will be able to sample a variety of flavors while pairing drinks with food from some of Chicago’s favorite food trucks (live music is again, on the agenda).

The Fest runs from 6-10 p.m. today; 1-5 p.m. tomorrow. General admission tickets are $50 and include a commemorative festival glass, program guide, and 20 drink tickets. VIP admission tickets are $100 and include the extra features of a commemorative festival t-shirt, a VIP food voucher, and a VIP access lanyard. Designated Driver tickets are also available.
