Meals on Wheels Gala Here in Two Weeks!
There are all kinds of charitable events going on this time of year in Chicago. I realize we just had Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation back in August, but the Big One is upon us: the 25th anniversary of the Meals on Wheels Celebrity Chef Ball happens on a Saturday this year for a change, and in a major departure from the Macy’s/West Loop locale, they’re moving the festivities to the Zhou B Art Center in Bridgeport (1029 W. 35th St.) which promises to keep things interesting. More than 70 chefs and 13 bartenders of note are going to be there on October 26th.
As in past years, there’s a two-tier option: you can either roll with the big spenders for a VIP Chef’s Table ($350 per ticket) which runs from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. – this includes a seated, interactive dining experience with live cooking by some of the city’s top chefs, specialty cocktail and wine pairing, and of course, inclusion to the second option: a chef’s tasting party ($150 per ticket) which runs from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., and features dozens (that’s right, I said dozens) of chef’s tastings, premium cocktails, wine and beer. There will be a killer silent auction, featuring one-of-a-kind dining packages, dinners and getaways, plus a live performance by Sugar High and DJ Lani Love, so bring comfortable shoes. Yours truly is your MC, so please stop by to say hello. I guarantee you’ll have the greatest food you’ve ever had at a charity event. Incidentally, all of your money goes to help Chicago’s seniors and homebound elderly, so they can receive meals throughout the year. Great cause, great party. Buy tickets here.
