Strange Foods Festival Hits Town Sunday
If you’re the kind of intrepid eater who thrills to the prospect of trying fried grasshoppers, fermented water jelly and tripe ragú, you might want to check out the 2nd annual Strange Foods Festival this Sunday, November 5th, at the Stan Mansion (2408 N. Kedzie) in Logan Square. Keng Sisavath is a one-man ambassador for all things fermented and funky; offal is his middle name. Last year, more than 500 people attended, and there’s a good chance there will be even more this time around. This year’s lineup includes mostly restaurants, like Animale, Spoon, Immm, By Da Mao and Seafood on Tables, but also one pop-up – Radical Larder – which will be offering up a jackfruit jibarito.
There’ll be plenty of beer, wine and coffee, and even though each of the 15 vendors will be offering up samples, you can go back as many times as you like. Tickets are $55 and can be purchased at the door or in advance here. The event runs from 1 – 4:30 p.m.
