Sweet Fundraiser for Project Orange Tree

The fundraiser will include a variety of desserts from local bakeries, like these from Vanille Patisserie.

For those who want to do something sweet for charity, look no further. That’s because this Friday, April 25th, Grandbaby Cakes will be hosting A Charitable Confection for local organization, Project Orange Tree. The fundraiser will benefit Orange Tree’s Project Oasis, an initiative that seeks to buy tracts of land in urban Chicago and develop them into community gardens and safe spaces for area youth. The event will take place at the Chicago Urban Art Society (600 W. Cermak) and will feature live music, drinks and and most importantly, sweets from local bakeries and dessert vendors, including: Bake ChicagoRuth and Phil’s Gourmet Ice Cream and More Cupcakes, among others. There will also be a silent auction, with all proceeds benefitting Project Oasis.

The VIP reception starts at 6 pm, and the event will be open to the public from 7 pm to 10 pm. Tickets are on sale for $2o for general admission, and $100 for VIP admission. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to A Charitable Confection’s event page. If you can’t attend, you can also make a donation to Project Orange Tree directly through the site.
