Experience the Farm with “Day in the Country” Bus Tour

Guests enjoy a fresh country meal as part of the “Day in the Country” bus tour to Indiana farms.

As Chicagoans, most of us do not get many chances to experience the farming lifestyle that built the Midwest. For those wanting to explore firsthand how local foods are cultivated, Chicago Gourmets hosts Paul Grosso and Don Newcomb will lead a luxury bus tour to several Indiana farms on July 14.

“A Day in the Country” includes stops at the Vandermolen Blueberry Farm, Rob’s Cob Family Sweet Corn and Belstra Milling Pork Farm. At these locations, passengers will get the chance to not only learn about how a particular food is sustainably grown, but also pick and eat fresh offerings right off of the farm.

There will also be a country lunch featuring locally produced fresh salads, sweet corn, smoked pork and blueberry desserts. Cheese plates will be served upon arrival.

The tour costs $79 per person ($59 without the bus). The bus will pick up guests from two locations, Des Plaines, Ill. at 8:00 a.m. and theWit Hotel in downtown Chicago at 8:30 a.m. The tour will return to Chicago at approximately 6:30 p.m.
