One of my all-time favorite places in Miami. There are seven locations in the area, but the one I go to is only about 10 minutes south of the airport, in Little Havana. El Palacio is where you need to go to get a true sense (and flavor) of the ex-pat Cuban community. The sandwich station alone is worth the trip. You’ll find more variations on pork than in a Mexican carnitas joint, and the namesake lineup of fruit drinks is mind-boggling. Mango? Mamey? Guava? Sugar cane? They’re all awesome, and freshly-squeezed. It’s a bit of a haul from South Beach, but totally on the way to/from the Miami airport.
