Frunchroom Combines Italian, Jewish Deli Traditions


If you grew up on Chicago’s South or Southwest Side, in a typical bungalow, you might be familiar with the term “frunchroom.” It’s a play on the term for the front part of the house, meant for entertaining. The owners of a new restaurant in Portage Park have taken that term to heart, curing and smoking meat and fish, pickling and even baking their own pastries.
