Sunday Ribs, Monday Corn…
Juicy St. Louis style ribs at Bub City
This upcoming week has a couple of great food events on tap, from ribs to Midwest corn. First up, Bub City (435 N. Clark) is kicking off summer with a Sunday Night Ribs special – a weekly dinner created by Chef Doug Psaltis featuring St. Louis style and baby back ribs with hot black pepper BBQ sauce. They’re also hosting a weekly music event, Down Home Dueling Pianos, starting June 25th. If you like country music (or if you just want some ribs), head over any Wednesday from 9 p.m. to midnight. But wait, there’s more.
The Spence Farm Foundation is hosting its annual Foundation Dinner on Monday, June 23rd from 7:30 to 10:30 at Browntrout (4111 N. Lincoln Ave). Spence Farm focuses on sustainable farming practices and offers workshops and classes that highlight seasonal crops, small family farming, and farm-to-table initiatives. This year, Chef Sean Sanders of Browntrout and Chef Thomas Leavitt of White Oak Gourmet are preparing a feast focusing on Midwestern corn. It’s GMO-free and all proceeds go to the Spence Farm Foundation; they’re preparing four courses along with a whiskey-based cocktail pairing from Koval Distillery. All local, all fresh – what’s not to love?
