Thai Festival Hits The Loop This Week
I’ve always wondered why the Thai Consulate waits until mid-June to hold their annual festival in The Loop. The natural choice would be in early April, during the Songkran (New Year) festivities. But when you consider how crap the weather in Chicago is that time of year, I’m not surprised they hold off until June. It’s a bonus for Loop workers, who can check out some Thai classical dancing while noshing on pad see ew. But this year, the Consulate is also offering some seriously intense Thai dishes, like street food-inspired dried grilled squid or pork/beef meatballs with Thai beer, beneath the Star of Siam booth. There will be five restaurants at Federal Plaza (50 W. Adams, between Dearborn and Clark) from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Wednesday to Friday.
