Thanksgiving Dinner for the Cooking Challenged

The countdown is here. But if you don’t feel like cooking for that crazy aunt or that gluten-free cousin, and spending all day in the kitchen isn’t your forte, multiple Chicago restaurants are offering Thanksgiving dinners – both in their dining rooms or as meals to go:
Shaw’s Crab House (21 E. Hubbard Street, 312-517-2722) is offering a to-go Thanksgiving dinner including all-white herb roasted turkey, traditional sides, pumpkin, apple, or pecan pie, and a leftovers preparation kit for $35 per person. Each order comes with one pound of turkey, four sides, one slice of pie, and all leftover fixings. Orders must be placed 72 hours in advance online at Shaw’s website or over the phone. Orders may be picked up from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 27th or from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, November 28th.
E.leaven Food Company (54 E. Ontario St., 312-202-0899), is offering to-go Thanksgiving meal packages for up to five people at $175. The package includes an 8 oz. turkey and three sides. Orders may be placed over the phone. Orders will be accepted until November 22nd at 3 p.m.
And for those looking for a dine-in option, many of Chicago’s restaurants and hotels are offering special Thanksgiving menus:
The Storefront Company (1941 W. North Ave.,733-661-2609) is offering a dine-in option for those who want a modern approach for their Thanksgiving meal. The restaurant will be serving dishes such as partridge, rabbit, and fallow deer from mid November to early December. Reservations can be made by over the phone or by visiting Open Table.
Ferris and Jack at the MileNorth Hotel (166 E. Superior St., 312-523-0911) will be offering a special Thanksgiving menu for their diners during the holiday season. For $40 a person guests can sample dishes such as pumpkin soup or twisted greens salad, Cornish hen to replace a traditional turkey entrée, followed with sweet potato brûlée. Ferris and Jack will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner Thanksgiving Day. Reservations can be made over the phone.
Filini Bar and Restaurant located in The Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel (221 N. Columbus Dr., 312-477-0234) will be serving a four-course meal for $55 a person starting at noon Thanksgiving Day. The restaurant will be serving a traditional roasted Amish turkey along with traditional sides and a pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. The Little Market Brasserie in the Talbot Hotel (10 E. Delaware Pl., 312-640-8141) will be offering Thanksgiving meal options from Monday, November 25th through Sunday, December 1st. Specials such as confit turkey thigh crostini and maple glazed duck breast can be ordered à la carte or as a $40 pre-fixed meal. Reservations can be made over the phone.
The Lockwood Restaurant and Bar located in the Palmer House Hilton (17 E. Monroe St., 312-917-3404) will be offering a traditional Thanksgiving meal with dishes such as maple honey molasses roasted turkey and buttermilk mashed potatoes. For guests looking for a modern meal, the restaurant will also be offering harbor point smoked salmon or pan-roasted Alaskan halibut. A full menu is available online at www.lockwoodrestaurant.com. This fixed menu is priced at $70 for adults, $65 for seniors, and $40 for children. Reservations are required and can be made over the phone or online.
Mercat a la Planxa (638 S. Michigan Ave., adjacent to the Blackstone Hotel, 312-765-0533) will be offering a four course, 10-dish menu on Thanksgiving Day. This tapas restaurant will be offering roasted, confit, and fried turkey with sherry pan gravy and cranberry-orange compote. For those looking for a Spanish dish to add to their Thanksgiving dinner at home, diners may call 48 hours in advance to order a whole roasted suckling pig to-go. Texas de Brazil (Schaumburg, IL: Woodfield Mall, 5 Woodfield Shopping Center, 847-413-1600) will be serving a Brazilian-style Thanksgiving feast, featuring signature cuts of beef, pork, lamb, chicken and Brazilian sausage carved tableside in true Brazilian Churrascaria fashion. Meals are $45.99 per person and will be served from 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
676 Restaurant and Bar (Omni Chicago, 676 North Michigan Avenue, 312-944-6664) will be serving a 4-course meal for $65 per person ($22 for children under 10). Guests will have the option of traditional thanksgiving courses along with the non-traditional. The restaurant will be open from 12 p.m.-8 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. Reservations are required and can be made over the phone.
Benny’s Chop House (444 North Wabash Avenue, 312-626-2444) will be offering their full meal Thanksgiving Day along with a traditional Thanksgiving dinner for $34.99 per person. Benny’s will be open from noon-9.p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
Weber Grill (539 North State Street, Chicago, IL 60654, 312-467-9696) will be offering a dine-in Thanksgiving menu along with take-out Thanksgiving platters. The Thanksgiving Feast Menu is priced at $28.95 for adults and $9.95 for children 10 and under. The Chicago location will be open from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving to-go platters order can be made over the phone and must be made by Monday, November 25th. Thanksgiving Platters are à la carte and prices range from $11.95 to $199.95.
Tavern on Rush (1031 N. Rush Street, 312-664-9600) will be offering traditional Thanksgiving meals from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Thanksgiving Day. For $41.95 per person ($16.95 for children 12 and under) guests can order a three course meal from a pre-set menu. Reservations can be made over the phone. For parties of four or more, family style dining is available.
The Chicago Firehouse (1401 South Michigan Ave., 312-786-1401) will be offering a Thanksgiving Day buffet. From 11 a.m.-7 p.m. the restaurant will be offering traditional Thanksgiving dishes with a carving station. Adult are $49.99; Children Ages 5-12 are $19.99. Reservations can be made over the phone or on Chicago Firehouse’s website.
Acadia (1639 S Wabash Avenue, 312-360-9500) will be offering a four course menu on Thanksgiving day for $65 per person. Wine parings are also available for an additional $25. A children’s menu is also available. Menu and further information can be found on Acadia’s website.
And for after dinner, JW Marriott Chicago (151 W. Adams St.) is offering drink specials for those wanting to get out of their house after their meal. From 7-11:45 p.m. the bar will be offering $5 wine selections and draft beers and $10 specialty cocktails. Guests can also order a Thanksgiving meal at the hotel for $28 per person. Reservations are not required.
