A Green City Halloween Party
The Green City Market Junior Board will hold its second annual fall fundraiser, the Halloween Harvest Ball, this Sunday, Oct. 28. Proceeds put a positive spin on fright night by contributing to Green City Market’s LINK Card Matching Program.
LINK is Illinois’ food assistance program that allows families the right to access nutritious, local and seasonal food. The Ravenswood Event Center will be transformed into a gourmet event space with food and drink. A costume party will be a festive setting to try some of Chicago’s best culinary creations. An all-star list of chefs and pastry chefs such as Dana Cree from Blackbird, Mike and Pat Sheerin from Trenchermen and Jennifer Jones from Topolobampo among others, will cook up seasonal dishes that showcase produce from Green City Market vendors.
To quench the crowd’s thirst, sommelier Jason Wagner of RM Champagne Salon and Nellcôte will pour wines that complement the food. A limited edition brew will also be on tap by Goose Island Brewpubs’ Jared Rouben. Mixologist Jordan Johnston of Frontera Grill, Ada Street’s Adam Scheiderer and Danielle Pizzutillo of Embeya will also be serving up a variety of cocktails. On the side, philanthropic foodies can participate in an advance online auction for experiential packages that suit their tastes.
Green City Market provides a marketplace for diverse, sustainable foods. They seek to educate, promote and connect farmers and local producers to chefs and restaurateurs. It is the only year-round sustainable farmers market and is in operation May through October in Lincoln Park, 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Wednesday.
