Rib Tips, Links the Keys to S. Side BBQ

Memorial Day weekend is here, and for many of us, that means time to fire up the grill. But it’s also a great time for barbecue, especially if you’re headed to a picnic. Chicago is split in half when it comes to barbecue preferences, with brisket, ribs and pulled pork typical on the North Side, while rib tips and hot links dominate down South. I tasted plenty of both this week, but I’m beginning in south suburban Homewood, where aquarium-style smokers are the norm at a joint where a father and son are running the show.
